Now this may seem a little valley girlish or even a little superficial to do a column about a character on a reality television show but I think it’s time I let my true feelings come out. He is a person that makes my skin crawl and my body cringe. A person that I will blatantly admit that I despise. He is a person that every time I see his face or hear his voice, it makes me want to move uncomfortably in my seat. Who is this person, you ask? Spencer Pratt. For those who aren’t familiar with that name, he is an LA socialite who made his debut to the world in 2005 when him and Brody Jenner first appeared on MTV’s hit reality show, The Hills. Now despite what people say about The Hills, I think it is entertaining and do believe that a good portion of it is real life. I honestly don’t know how someone could make up half of the drama that happens in that hour time slot on MTV. Now where was I? Oh yes, Spencer Pratt. A man who looks like Harry Henderson with his flesh colored beard. Now not only does this man’s outward appearance bother me without a doubt, it’s his arrogance and over-bearing personality that really gets my stomach turning. Spencer and Heidi Montag, his on again off again girlfriend of the last three years, have hit tabloids and had talk show appearances one after another defending their relationship and who they are. They insist to this day that the show perceives them in a different light but as I can continue to be glued to my television every Monday night at 9 pm, I’m not so sure it’s our perception that makes him evil. I think you truly have a problem when every relationship your fiancĂ© ever built has been broken because of your actions or attitude. Heidi had a best friend, LC. Are they currently friends? Nope, all because of Spencer starting rumors about LC and ex-boyfriend Jason having a sex tape. Does Heidi’s family support the Spencer/Heidi relationship? Survey says….NO! Once again another relationship ruined because of Spencer. “I think you’re very controlling and manipulative. I think you’re condescending, rude and very hostile right now." Darlene, Heidi’s mother said those words to Spencer on an episode of The Hills as she tried to figure out what her beautiful daughter saw in the horrible man sitting across from her. What other things has Spencer ruined in Heidi’s life, you ask? What about her career! After a fight with Heidi, Spencer showed up in Las Vegas to get Heidi back and caused a scene while she was having dinner about a project with her two bosses from her event planning firm, Bolthouse Productions. He actually did cost Heidi her job when he showed up uninvited once again at an event Heidi was planning, only to influence her to take several shots of tequila, which led to her termination.
